Oct 8, 2007, Shanghai---In the last week of September the Canada Wood Tech. Dept. donated a landscaping deck display to the Yew Chung International School (上海耀中国际学校). David Daly and Brad Spencer modified and assembled the deck to be used next to the schools athletic field.
John Drummond from YCIS said, "This week saw the official handing over of the wooden walkway that has been donated to our campus by Canada Wood. This walkway will be the foundation for a relaxation area where in future we hope to add a trellis with vines growing over it to provide shade for students in the summer months and shelter in the winter months. We are very grateful for this generous donation from Canada Wood that all students will be able to enjoy. "

| Canada Wood Joint with European Wood to promote building envelop system in China

September 28, 2007, Beijing, China---The 2007 China International New Wall Material & Facility Expo was held on Sept 24th to 27th in Beijing, China. The four-day show is regarded as the premier building materials show in China, attracting thousands of key industry players from China and abroad.
Canada Wood and European Wood worked together for the first time to present a co-branded display booth. The display booth demonstrated the wood frame building envelope system, wood trusses and an infill wall system.
Canada Wood produced a package of marketing materials, including a visually appealing full color co-branded brochure, (Click here to download) which was specially created for the show. A co-branded gift bag and standing pull-up signage was also designed for the show. The goal of the promotional materials was to raise the profile of Canada Wood and European Wood with Chinese developers. They also sought to showcase the sustainability advantages of the wood frame building envelope system and to establish suitability for the Chinese market.
Canada Wood sponsored a symposium on the second day of the tradeshow featuring Mr. Wu Zuo Ming. Mr. Wu is a building code expert who is leading the development of the national in-fill wall code. Mr. Wu delivered a speech themed "Sustainable and energy-saving building envelop system".
Canada Wood personnel were very pleased with the outcome of the trade show. Our European counterpart concurred with the following comments:
"The show was really successful. There was an endless stream and people who were very interested in the building envelope system we designed for the Chinese market. European Wood and Canada Wood worked very well together to market the whole system. I was really impressed with the quality of work contributed by our friends from Canada Wood. Shows of this kind are invaluable. We are looking forward to future opportunities to team up with Canada Wood." – Shaoming Zhang, European Wood China For more information, please contact Lance Tao at tao@canadawood.cn or call us at 021-5030-1126 ext 210

Canada Wood representatives in China continually praise the benefits of wood frame construction. We recently accepted a challenge to “practice what we preach” and prove how fast and easy it is to build with wood.
One of Canadawood’s own Construction Specialists was recently dispatched to the largest wood market in Beijing where he had just five days to build a medium sized, two-story structure in front of hundreds of curious customers.

"The Canada Wood technical team is happy to announce a donation of wood building materials to Second Chance Animal Aid (SCAA), a non profit organization working to save the lives of homeless companion animals. The wood was donated to a cat hoarder support program to improve the lives of nearly 200 cats. In addition to the wood donation on July 25th, the members of the tech team spent that afternoon constructing a small playground for the cats.
Ms. Carol A. Wolfson, founder of Second Chance Animal Aid (SCAA) said, "SCAA wishes to extend our deepest thanks to Canada Wood for your generous donation of wood (and building skills!) to a cat hoarder project we are supporting here in Shanghai. This hoarder, who now has almost 200 cats, has agreed to our very strict terms and conditions to stop collecting cats and improve the health and welfare of the cats already in his care. The cats are now all vaccinated, spayed/neutered and are in generally good health. Our challenge now is to create mental stimulation so they have a happier, more interesting life as we try to slowly find them permanent homes, one kitty at a time! We are very grateful to Canada Wood for helping create an environment that will stimulate and help socialize these precious cats in need. "
As a part of Canada Wood's charity activities, the donation showcased Canada Wood's mission to bring a better living environment to people and their best friends, animals.

Wood Frame and Hybrid Construction Seminars

| January 22 to 26, 2007 |
 |
During the month of January, the Canada Wood team sponsored seminars in Hefei (Jan. 22nd), Jinan (Jan. 24th), and Qinhuandao (Jan. 26th). These seminars touted the many benefits of Wood Frame construction and explained how Hybrid building systems can meet China's need for multi-family housing and re-roofing projects. Wood Frame construction not only uses renewable and “green” building materials, but is an incredibly energy efficient building system. Canada Wood construction experts gave presentations explaining the realities of wood performance with respect to durability and fire, as well as sound transmission, termite resistance, wind loads and seismic resistance. Through the use of several displays the attendees were able to get an interactive, firsthand look at how wood frame and hybrid construction works.
Attendees showed a very positive reaction and great interest to the wealth of information presented at the seminars. The Canada Wood team is looking forward to future opportunities to showcase the many benefits of Wood Frame and Hybrid construction in China.
