- Beam selection is given as: number of plies - ply thickness (mm) x ply depth (mm)
- Beam selection is given for a beam on the edge of the deck as shown in the figure below.
When a beam is in the middle of the deck supporting joists on both sides of the beam, double the number of plies shown in the table.
- Nail built-up beams so that it acts as a single member as shown in the figure below.
- Minimum post size 89 x 89mm, for posts up to 2m high, and wide enough to support all beam plies.
