Vancouver Brings Expo a Real “Urban Sanctuary” Inside a Modern Wood Pavilion
Shanghai, 19 April 2010: The Vancouver Pavilion will open its doors on May 1st inside EXPO’s Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA). The Pavilion will introduce the people and ideas that make Vancouver green, progressive and livable. Vancouver will also introduce its “Green Capital” campaign where a strong commitment to sustainable ideals is unveiled with a target of becoming “The World’s Greenest City” by 2020.

CANADA, BC SEND CHINA $8M FOR RECOVERY, RECONSTRUCTION
Shanghai, China, June 16, 2008 – British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell and the Honourable Gary Lunn, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, announced a two-phase CDN $8-million (app RMB 55 million) project to provide temporary and permanent wood- frame buildings to help survivors of the recent earthquake in China. Discussions are currently underway between Canada and China to determine the exact quake-hit area for implementation of this relief project.

The unveiling of the Zhujiang Park Wood Structure and Landscaping Demonstration Project to the public marked the completion of the first cooperative project between the governments of British Columbia (BC) and Guangdong. Shanghai Homes Go Environmentally-Friendly: Joint Efforts to Provide First Commercialized Wood Truss Roofing Project in Shanghai
Affordable urban housing at Peng San Community in the city’s northern Zhabei District, will be undergoing a facelift this winter as part of the first commercialized Wood Truss Roof Renovation Project undertaken in Shanghai.
Due for completion at the end of April 2008, Phase One of the program brings the benefits of Canadian wooden frame technology to 20 flat-roofed apartment buildings in the area to create a more harmonious living environment for residents. Canada Wood's Awards of Excellence
Hello, and welcome to Canada Wood’s Awards of Excellence 2007.
Please complete the following 3 steps to enter the competition
* Step 1 - Correctly Fill in the Form (Please click [Download Press Release] to download the form) and email, fax or mail to the contact shown at the bottom.
* Step 2 – Provide as many Blue Print drawings as possible
* Step 3 – Provide pictures of the projects
Please note that all projects entered in the competition should be recent (maximum 3 years old). Current projects already underway also qualify.
Entries must be submitted by November 5th, 2007. Finalists will be chosen November 9th, 2007 and listed on the Canada Wood web page. The list of finalists will be announced on Dec. 4th, 2007 at the Builders/Suppliers meeting
Judging
Judging will be done by staff from Canada Wood. The judges may visit the sites to take pictures and to evaluate the entries.
Proposed Prizes
-Plaques/trophies, featuring pictures of the houses, presented by Canada Wood
-A full page ad in a trade magazine or newspaper.
-Award winner listings on the Canada Wood web page.
